RCE_EU_W1

  • Hello,

    Do you know anything about the "RCE_EU_W1" ecuType?

    Recently I came across this infotainment system, used in a 2022 Peugeot 208 (P21E):

    Probably related with this FCC documentation: https://fccid.io/Y9TT0424

  • Never heard of it until now. :/

    Maybe some kind of new generation as RCC replacement?

    The IVI system is also available with several revisions.

    Maybe the "RCE" is the slimmed down version.

    Is it also available via nac/rcc server source?

  • Mittns: Yes, I did find 2 firmware versions in the same server:

    https://majestic-web.mpsa.com/…ce-eu_1-1-5_RCE_EU_W1.tar

    https://majestic-web.mpsa.com/…ce-eu_1-3-4_RCE_EU_W1.tar

    And the Majestic's API can also handle queries about this systems. It doesn't handle IVI systems though.

  • I'm curious what kind of system it is.

    It doesn't handle IVI systems though.

    It probably never will, because the IVI system has support for OTA updates.

    So far, the technical documentation only contains instructions for updates via Wifi or via BTA.

    I think there will be no offline updater anymore.

    At least not for the consumer.

  • It's a simple monochrome radio with a small 5" display and 4 subversions (A1, B1, A2 and B2):

    - The Ax subversions (A1 and A2) doesn't have climatization settings (car has dedicated buttons for that);

    - The Bx subversions (B1 and B2) does have climatization settings on screen;

    - The x1 subversions (A1 and B1) only have AM and FM radio frequency support;

    - The x2 subversions (A2 and B2) also have DAB support.

    A1A2B1B2
    On-screen climatization settings :check_mark_button: :check_mark_button:
    DAB support :check_mark_button: :check_mark_button:

    So this model isn't related to the IVI, that has 2 subversions (in Peugeot, they're called "i-Connect" and "i-Connect Advanced").

  • Are these models new or from older models?

    I can't believe that the manufacturers are still so stingy and build monochrome displays. xD

    Welcome back to the early 2000s. :sparkles:

  • I did find this infotainment system used in several Peugeot 208 (P21E) built 22-24 December last year (OPR 16480-16482), using the old 1.6 HDi 110/115 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox - VIN start with "VR3UB9HPANxxxxxxx", so N=MY2022. Not sure in which country they're sold or built (plant code = KE).

    In the FCC documentation (user manual), it's implied that they're also used in some Citroën models.

  • Hmm, than maybe in some countries like china or something. :/

    They often have special models mit specific equipment.

  • Those are usually sold by DPCA - Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën - http://www.dpca.com.cn/ and their VIN start with "LDC" (or "LPA" for the old CAPSA - Changan PSA Automobiles/DS Automobiles). Peugeot Latin America also have their own VIN ("8AD" - Argentina and "8GD" - Chile).

    My guess is East Europe.

    EDIT:

    Found a reference to the RCE system in this Peugeot Finland document: https://media.peugeot.fi/file/…q-private-mode.787958.pdf

    And in the Finnish owner's manual (they call it "bluetooth touchscreen audio system" - there's also the "Connect Radio" (RCC) and "Connect Nav" (NAC)), pages 28 and 188-197: https://public.servicebox.peug…s/9999_9999_401_fi-FI.pdf
